Heigl to Escape from Hollywood Comedies?

Katherine Heigl by Gregg DeGuire/WireImage.com

Hollywood's "It" girl strikes again except this time, Katherine Heigl is branching out from comedy and taking on a more serious role. The Knocked Up actress will be pulling double-duty by both starring and producing the feature film adaptation of Escape, the bestselling memoir of Carolyn Jessop, whose testimony helped convict polygamist sect leader Warren Jeffs, says Variety.

In the book, Jessop tells of her life born in the Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints sect. At 18 she married a man 32 years older than her, and by the age of 35, she finally took her eight kids and fled.

How do you think the actress, best known for her quirky roles, will fair in such an emotive role? Perhaps the fact that Heigl was a member of the Mormon church influenced her decision in taking on this project? - Gina DiNunno
