Gossip Girl
may be over for the season, but
Ed Westwick (aka Chuck), is keeping busy. The British actor has just been cast in
S. Darko, a follow up to
Donnie Darko, the 2001 cult fave that helped put the
Gyllenhaal sibs on the map, says the
Reporter.
The
Darko sequel will feature the story of Samantha, Donnie's sister, who leaves town with her best friend in the face of a broken family and strange visions.
Daveigh Chase will return as the Darko sis, while
Step Up to the Streets 2's
Briana Evigan just joined to play Samantha's friend. Along with Westwick and Evigan,
Elizabeth Berkley has also just joined the film. She'll play a former drug addict who's now devoted to Jesus - and to her hunky pastor.
Is the
Darko follow up a surprise - especially seven years later? Or is it potentially the key to the confusion that's plagued Darko fans for most of the last decade? Anything with Westwick is promising...as long as it doesn't distract him from his important work on the Upper East Side.
