The Dark Knight to Pay Tribute to Ledger

Heath Ledger courtesy Warner Bros. Pictures

As The Dark Knight approaches release, Warner Brothers announced that they plan to pay tribute to its departed star, Heath Ledger, as well as to another departed crew member, special-effects technician Conway Wickliffe, in the film. Wickliffe was killed in a stunt-car accident in September.

The end credits will include a note that reads simply, "In memory of our friends Heath Ledger & Conway Wickliffe." The film opens July 18.

Is the end note a fitting tribute? Should there be more fanfare - or is the sentiment understood already? - Anna Dimond
