Incredibly soppy melodrama starring Downey as an aspiring singer who is informed by his girl, Chandler, only moments before his Broadway debut that his mother, Mercer (who had sacrificed everything for his career), has taken ill. Downey walks out on the show and rushes to his mother's
bedside to nurse her back to health. Luckily, the press gets hold of the story of his unselfish act and turns him into a star anyway. Unbelievably maudlin today.
