MOONLIGHT AND VALENTINO
starstarstarstar
A female bonding film in the FRIED GREEN TOMATOES vein, MOONLIGHT AND VALENTINO showcases a talented quartet: Elizabeth Perkins, Whoopi Goldberg, Kathleen Turner and Gwyneth Paltrow. They seem to represent four stages of womanhood: Paltrow is the young woman in love; Goldberg, the disgruntled wife; Turner, the divorced matriarch; and Perkins, the young widow. Unfortunately, the film gives them nothing very interesting to say or do. Written by Ellen Simon -- daughter of Neil -- and directed by David Anspaugh (RUDY, HOOSIERS), the film is a loosely autobiographical account of coping with life after widowhood. Surprising asset: rock star Jon Bon Jovi as a sexy house painter who provides fodder for the women's fantasies. leave a comment
