Lockwood is the head of a group of citizens who, three years after WW II is over, form a society in Soho that refuses to work. Graves comes across this group during his post-war wanderings and decides to run a hotel in the area. Despite the fact that the group has disavowed the work-ethic,
the members slowly get involved in helping Graves run the business and chaos soon sweeps the area. Lovely Jean Simmons, then 14, was picked from among a group of dance students for the role of Heidi, Lockwood's sister.
