Illogical but suspenseful, THE MOON-SPINNERS focuses on the adventures of Mills and her aunt, played by Greenwood. While staying at the Moon-Spinners Hotel on Crete, Mills meets young McEnery, whom she later discovers wounded, in a deserted church, after he is shot by an associate of the hotel's owner (Wallach). She learns that McEnery, who lost his job as a London bank messenger after a jewel robbery that he has come to Crete to investigate, believes Wallach is the true culprit. Mills and McEnery set out to gather evidence, falling in love--and getting into a number of scrapes and encounters with shady characters--in the process. Silly fun, with a special plus in the performance of silent-film siren Pola Negri as an exotic jewel fancier. leave a comment
