Question: Since the majority of movies nowadays are remakes, is there a possibility of remaking The Day the Earth Stood Still? Please!
Answer: Though its message is as timely as ever, I can't imagine why anyone would want to see a remake of a movie as perfectly realized as The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951). But I guess you'll be pleased to hear that Variety announced in late 2005 that there is one in preproduction. The bad news (or the worse news, depending on your basic take) is that Robert Luketic, heretofore associated with comedies like Monster-in-Law (2005) and Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!
