A typical Bob Hope vehicle that casts him in his standard Casanova-type adventure role. This time he pretends to be a French nobleman pegged to wed a Spanish princess. The marriage will prevent a full-scale war, but he wants to marry social-climbing chambermaid Caulfield. The slapstick
consequences of Hope's action are an assassination plot by a group who want the war to break out, sending the pseudo-duke scurrying about in fear of his life. The patented finale has Hope marrying his chambermaid love and returning to life as a barber. Includes the songs "Warm as Wine," "A Coach
and Four," and "We'll Drink Every Drop in the Shop" (Jay Livingston, Ray Evans).
