Fields is charming as an unemployed entertainer who undertakes the task of housekeeping for autocratic English aristocrat Woolley who has alienated the scion of his noble house, McDowall. Discharging Woolley's disgruntled domestics who have been stealing from him, she replaces them with her show-business friends. Her personality and understanding handling of his affairs charm the lion-like lord, whom she reconciles with his heir. When Woolley's ex-wife Lloyd appears with a scheme to blackmail the bearded bully, Fields enlists the aid of her theatrical co-workers to simulate a situation in which the would-be extortionist appears to have committed murder. Fields sings several songs, including "Bring Back My Bonnie," "The Awfulness, the Sinfulness, the Wickedness of Men," and "Christopher Robin." leave a comment
