Modigliani Of Montparnasse

This is the biography of the alcoholic genius painter Amedeo Modigliani, first released in Paris in 1958. Philipe, in the title role, is encouraged to lead a life of wild drinking by his mistress, writer Beatrice Hastings (Palmer). He neglects his health until he meets a young art student, Aimee, with whom he falls in love. Her father soon takes her away, and the painter is told to move to the south of France to improve his tuberculosis. The pair meet again in Nice, where the long-necked lady becomes both his lover and his model. After a failed exhibition of his work, the painter falls to the ground and later dies.
