This is the biography of the alcoholic genius painter Amedeo Modigliani, first released in Paris in 1958. Philipe, in the title role, is encouraged to lead a life of wild drinking by his mistress, writer Beatrice Hastings (Palmer). He neglects his health until he meets a young art student, Aimee, with whom he falls in love.
