Moreau is the wealthy but bored wife of an industrialist who, while waiting for her son's (Haudepin) music lesson to finish, hears the scream of a woman in a nearby cafe. She sees a man being taken away from the body of a woman. Fascinated by the incident, she begins to frequent the cafe and soon meets Belmondo, an employee of her husband.
