In this limp crime drama, Howard, a respected entrepreneur, operates a modeling agency and training school. He falls hard for gold-digger Gray, whom he bejewels and "be-minks." Gray's onetime sweetheart, Duff, released from prison, reenters her life with an obnoxious proposition. He suggests that Howard's prestigious parlor of pulchritude might be turned into a lucrative if somewhat sleazy peepshow operation, with filmless "amateur photographers" invited to film the damsels in their flimsies. Gray, attempting to evade this noxious notion, marries Howard to escape the ex-convict's importunities. Too late: she and Duff are both killed in a shootout with the police, who have hunted him because he violated parole. This was the first filmic offering of Mutual Pictures, an independent production and releasing company, and it portended doom. The company disappeared from view shortly afterward. Actor Duff, on the other hand, went on to many successful production ventures with wife Ida Lupino. leave a comment
