A painter is invited to spend the summer at a wealthy friend's home and on the way there picks up a young woman traveler. He falls in love with the girl, but his friend's son begins to move in on her. She realizes by the summer's end that she is in love with the painter, but she dies in a boating accident, shattering the painter's hopes. Includes a fine score by Georges Delerue, whose soundtracks have become a staple of French cinema. Released in Paris and Rome in 1960. leave a comment
