When reporter O'Brien writes an article praising rocker Randazzo, her stuffed-shirt editor rewrites it as an attack on rock music. Disc jockey Freed takes up the challenge and--after explaining the history of rock and its development from blues, jazz, and country & western (with the examples of LaVern Baker, Lionel Hampton and his Band, and Ferlin Husky illustrating each)--he calls on his young listeners to prove they're not a bunch of hoodlums by raising money for the heart fund. The plot isn't much and none of the leads could act their way out of a paper bag, but with this much great music (over thirty songs) in one film, such considerations fade to insignificanc...
