The first western by the director of DJANGO was made at the same time as Sergio Leone's A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS. Corbucci's style is more in keeping with traditional American westerns, which varies greatly from Leone's approach. Mitchell plays a gunfighter who is imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit. He escapes from jail to seek revenge. He goes to a Mexican village where Riviere, the man who withheld evidence at Mitchell's trial, is living. Even though he's going blind, Mitchell guns down almost every outlaw in town. Riviere, the man Mitchell really wants, is the last left to die.
