Arlen is a graduate from Annapolis who deserted the Navy because of his gambling habit. When WW II breaks out, he re-enlists under an alias and is assigned to the title vessel. He gives up his life to defuse a new type of enemy mine endangering approaching ships. Another morale-building film made during WW II, this movie is second rate in every way. Robert Mitchum appears in a small role as a crew member, but was unbilled. leave a comment
