Combining crew and horse racing, this mildly amusing B comedy is notable for the presence of several talents who went on to bigger things, including Betty Grable (whose famous legs were eventually insured for $1 million, though this has nothing to do with the film's title), a youthful Donald O'Connor, and William Holden in a bit part. Rich kid Greg Melton (John Hartley) tries to escape from his father's shadow by supplying his college's rowing team with badly needed new shells without tapping into the family funds. Taking up a collection from his teammates, he bets on a racehorse called Million Dollar Legs and, though it's a long shot, his gamble pays off, the team gets its new equipment, and the stage is set for a climactic race. leave a comment
