Twelvetrees can't seem to settle down; she ends her first marriage and jumps from one love affair to another. The only man she will have nothing to do with is a wealthy broker, Halliday, who begins to romance the woman's 16-year-old daughter. When he ignores her warnings to leave the girl
alone, Twelvetrees kills him. During the murder trial, daughter comes to Mom's rescue at the last moment to tell what had happened the night of the killing. A worn melodrama that creaks from rust and cliches.
