Twelvetrees can't seem to settle down; she ends her first marriage and jumps from one love affair to another. The only man she will have nothing to do with is a wealthy broker, Halliday, who begins to romance the woman's 16-year-old daughter. When he ignores her warnings to leave the girl alone, Twelvetrees kills him.
