Midnight

An extremely witty, well-paced comedy which plays beautifully today. The story is set in Paris where Colbert is a struggling showgirl. Wealthy Barrymore believes gigolo Lederer is paying too much attention to his wife Astor, so he hires Colbert to keep Lederer occupied. Ameche plays a taxi driver who has fallen in love with Colbert. When the group goes to Barrymore's chateau in Versailles, Colbert is constantly in danger of being exposed, and the plot is further complicated when Ameche arrives, posing as her husband.
