Ambitious, and very naive, newshound Toomey will stop at nothing to get the biggest and best scoop, even if it kills him. He smuggles himself into prison to interview mute murderer Auer, which he is able to do because he knows sign language. It is quite amazing that Toomey managed to stay
alive throughout the course of this hard-to-take film. Somehow he did, and his adventures are at least delivered in a fashion that keeps an audience interested.
