Midnight Movie Massacre

An exercise in creative recycling, this lowbrow comedy, which was shot in 1984 but not released until four years later, was built around a never-aired parody of old-fashioned science fiction movie serials. Set in 1956, it begins as a projectionist threads up the latest installment of "Space Patrol" while his radio broadcasts reports of a flying saucer over Long Beach, Calif., and patrons drift into their local bijou for some midnight movie thrills.
