Astaire is an officer in the British Secret Service who decides to steal a large gold shipment after being passed over for knighthood. He tricks Crenna, a college professor who was fired for his war protests, into helping him make off with the $15 million gold shipment from a commerical
jet. Also involved in the scheme are Heywood and Celi, an ex-Luftwaffe pilot, who forces the jet liner down with his Messerschmidt. Once the heist is pulled off, Astaire has Celi arrested. It turns out that he wasn't really after the gold but wanted to capture the German so that he (Astaire) could
