Cabot is a criminal raising his young son, Ryan, in the slums. After he kills a bank teller in a robbery, the outlaw sends his son to his grandmother, but when the G-men close in on the boy, father and son go on the run together. They hijack a bus full of schoolchildren and end up running into a snowdrift. Ryan won't let his father leave the kids to freeze to death, so Cabot goes for help and is shot in the process.
