Mexicali Rose: Review

Autry was rapidly becoming the top singing cowboy and this film held the formula that made him a Saturday matinee star. Autry and his sidekick, Burnette, protect a mission for poor Mexican children from oil swindlers. Autry is helped by Mexican bandit Beery, who styles himself after the Robin Hood character in one of Autry's songs. Songs include: "You're the Only Star in My Blue Heaven" which was a favorite with Autry fans, and "Mexicali Rose" (Autry). leave a comment
