Brady is a prima donna who walks out on the Metropolitan Opera to form her own company. She pulls together promising young talent and enlists baritone Tibbett as her leading man. Tibbett takes charge, and the opera company becomes a big success. This was the first film from newly formed 20th Century-Fox and did rather poorly at the box office. Songs include: "De Glory Road" (Clement Wood, J. Russell Bodley), "On the Road to Mandalay" (Rudyard Kipling, Oley Speaks), arias from Gounod's "Faust," Rossini's "The Barber of Seville," the prolog to Leoncavallo's "Pagliacci," and "The Toreador Song" and "Micaela's Aria" from Bizet's "Carmen."
