This was the third time around as a film for the popular George S. Kaufman and Marc Connelly play, after a silent version in 1924 and then another in 1932 under the title MAKE ME A STAR. Skelton is the star in this version, playing a dreamy theater usher who gets a trip to Hollywood as part of a publicity stunt to boost the plunging career of Ames. O'Brien's keen nose for talent makes her realize the potential of Skelton; she does her bit to push the man along until he makes it to star status.
