The tale of Falstaff is told in dazzling Technicolor in this Austrian version of the classic Shakespeare play. Two of Windsor's fun-loving wives, Boky and Miler, turn down Falstaff's advances and instead play a couple of practical jokes on the aging fellow. Finally, with the help of their
husbands, the wives get back at Falstaff by scaring the dickens out of him in a forest. The production features some fine operatic voices, with the Zagreb Symphony Orchestra providing the music by Nicolai.
