Chicago Herald reporter Stack ventures to Texas with photographer Carrillo to get the real, untold story of post-Civil War Texas. Immediately after the war's end, Stack captures the feelings of the Confederate soldiers returning home to territories occupied by Union militia. The Chicagoans visit Gen.
