Originally released in 1932 at 88 minutes, this British film was rereleased due to the rising popularity of Donat and Oberon, though they were not the film's headliners. The story belongs to Bradell, a college lad who becomes a successful novelist after being expelled from Oxford. His romance with Gardner hits the skids when she accepts a job in Oxford's chemistry lab, bringing the relationship to an end. There's a cheery reunion by the finale, however. Directed and edited by Sagan, certainly one of the few women behind the camera in the early 1930s. Sagan in 1931 directed the highly successful German picture MADCHEN IN UNIFORM (MAIDENS IN UNIFORM) which featured an all-female cast. leave a comment
