A pet project of Peter Ustinov, who acted as writer and director as well as star, MEMED MY HAWK tells the story of a tyrant whose involvement in the feudal Turkey of the 1950s leads to his death. Turkish peasant life is given a well-meaning but stereotypical treatment that never really rings true.
