On a stopover in Moscow, Siberia-bound Loktev befriends Mikhalkov and Steblov. Steblov prepares to marry and Mikhalkov takes off with Loktev to meet a famous writer who admires a short story Loktev has penned. After meeting an attractive store clerk, Polskikh, they begin feuding over her.
But after she gets Loktev out of jail, the three remain friendly. They return home to attend a wedding party, but find that Steblov and his new bride have had an argument. Everything works out in the end as Loktev continues on his way to Kamchatka. This Russian comedy follows the Hollywood format
of cramming a 24-hour period in a character's life full of zany adventures.
