Carlyle is the country's top crooner, known as "America's Boy Friend," a title he hates as much as all the fame that surrounds him. When a shady actress tries to marry him, the niece of an insurance executive (who has taken a $300,000 anti-marriage policy on the singer) succeeds in winning him over. She is, however, kidnaped in the process, forcing Carlyle to rescue her.
