Per Variety, TV Land has bought off-network rights to Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, the cabler's first-ever purchase of a reality series and only the second time it has grabbed a show currently on the air. EM:HE will air Tuesdays at 11 pm/ET, starting Aug. 7.... Out on DVD today: Meatballs: Special Edition, and CHiPs' Season 1 (see Erik Estrada Q&A). Dick Wolf is working on a new legal drama that will examine the impact of a big-time trial (think O.J. or Scott Peterson) on a small town, but — and you'd better sit down for this — it isn't called "Law & Order: This 'n' That." Suddenly I'm very afraid.... Ivan Reitman, who has directed big-screen features from Meatballs to Old School, has begun thinking small: He's developing a sitcom for Fox called That Guy, about a 35-year-old who surrenders to a "second puberty" and begins acting up like he's 21. Kinda like what Big Brother's Howie will be like when he starts to gray.
