Small-town flapper Crain marries bandleader Dailey and their honeymoon is comprised of a series of one-night stands, musically speaking. Tiring of constant travel, Crain goes home. His bookings ruined by the onset of the Great Depression, Dailey joins her there, along with his cynical, world-weary manager, Levant. Having difficulty with the hicks, Dailey takes off alone, determined to conquer the big city. When he lands permanent employment with a hotel band, wife Crain joins him for a happy finish; the urbane Levant elects to continue rusticating.
