The further adventures of WW II's most unlikely patrol boat--this time without Borgnine, who declined to do the role he had played on TV and in the first MC HALE'S NAVY film after a salary dispute with Universal. Conway ends up in charge of the ship and inadvertently gets promoted time
after time, thanks to some strange mishaps. After a drunken bout, he ends up in an Air Force uniform, gets involved with some Russians, and eventually is honored for bravery by no less than the president of the US. Somewhat funnier than the first film, with a similar reliance on slapstick gags
that are well visualized by director Montagne.
