Spy spoof features O'Neal as a journalist mistaken for a spy by Chinese communists. He's tortured in an effort to get some information about a secret chemical, then thrown into a cell. There he encounters an ancient East Asian man who gives him a magic ring that can temporarily make its wearer invisible. He uses it to escape from a firing squad only to end up being tortured again, this time by Americans, for the same reason as before. He finally agrees to help obtain the chemical's formula for the US, with the aid of von Furstenberg.
