A well-told, if slightly longer than necessary, epic dealing with three generations in an English mill family. Murray and Price are two rival brothers in a Yorkshire town, fighting for the control of their father's wool mill. Murray marries a local socialite and becomes the town's mayor after building a new hospital. He does this at the expense of the family business, which widens the gap between the siblings.
