In this attempt to make a sort of REEFER MADNESS for the 1960s, washed-up pop star Fabian plays a high school art teacher who discovers that some of his students are actually turning on with the demon weed. Since he himself admitted to trying marijuana once in college, he knows what dangers the kids are in for. Margotta is a sensitive student lured into a Mary Jane party by bad kid Coughlin. McBain is a teacher that Fabian is attracted to until she turns out to be the school's main dope supplier. She's also a firm believer in extended learning and has given some of the male students firsthand lessons in their sex education. Ultimately the good are rewarded and the bad are punished in this classic example of the "so-bad-it's-good" genre. The hokey, socially backward script is by the unlikely team of "Hollywood Squares" host Marshall and "Get Smart" Control robot Gautier. They both have bit parts as well. Don't miss an early screen appearance by Garr as one of the turned-on school kids. McCormack, who played the little girl in the BAD SEED, is all grown up here as the girl friend of the tough drug pusher. Although Alesia receives screen credit for the role of Frenchy, some sources claim the role was played by Tom Nolan. It is interesting to note that the producers took themselves very seriously in this poorly made camp piece. The material they sent out to theaters suggested special screenings for local clergymen so as to inspire some antidrug sermons. leave a comment
