Ten years in the married life of Baxter and Loy are traced against newsreel footage of events that were occurring in the world at the time, spanning a period from 1925 (Jimmy Walker elected mayor of New York) to 1935 (depths of the Depression). Both have extramarital flings along the way
and Baxter climbs high in the business world, but their marriage eventually is saved by the intervention of Loy's sometime lover Hunter. An interesting cavalcade of events certainly, but lacking a point, bitter or otherwise, to tie the principals to the flash of newsreels going by.
