Snappy comedy in which director LaCava manages to turn what could have been a heavy, serious drama into a delightful farce that skims along with the lighthearted attitude that graces all his comedies. The plot is simple. Colbert falls in love with her boss, Douglas, and takes him to the
altar. She is not well received by her new family which includes a prudish sister-in-law, Alexander, who is jealous of the attention Colbert receives, and a stepdaughter with a vile mouth. But Colbert soon proves who the boss is in her own calculating manner that combines experience with women's
intuition. The entire cast does a grand job, making for a good time all around.
