Garner is a Los Angeles private detective hired by Farrell to find her missing brother. He traces the missing man to a hotel, where he tries to get information from both the manager and the current occupant of the brother's old room. The men deny knowing anything about the brother, but both are murdered with ice picks shortly thereafter.
