This attempt to transfer De Carco's novel
Prison de Femmes to the screen doesn't work very well. The story revolves around an orphan girl, Saint-Cyr, who is sent to jail for three years. She is able to wed a wealthy businessman through the underworld connections she's made in prison. The
story lacks believability; the blatant direction doesn't help matters any. Performances are routine. (In French; English subtitles.)
