A smashing swashbuckler and the finest of the many Zorro films. Tyrone Power is marvelous as Don Diego Vega, dandy by day but the brave, masked avenger known only as "Zorro" by night. Don Diego is the son of Montagu Love, the onetime alcalde of early 19th-century Los Angeles, who returns from Europe that the people are now energetically oppressed by the new alcalde's tax collectors, led by cruel captain Basil Rathbone.
