Marigolds In August

With the apartheid situation of the South African government, an intelligent drama from that country dealing with the plight of blacks is an all too rare commodity. Written by Fugard, South Africa's best-known playwright, MARIGOLDS IN AUGUST tells a simple story about a black gardener (Ntshona) who must travel a long distance by foot into the white district in order to find work. He fears that the job will disappear when another black (Kani) shows up. Ntshona thinks that this new man wants to rob a local supermarket and forces him out of the area.
