1937, Movie, NR, 82 mins

The guest appearances by the many performers serve as the only strong point in this mish-mash collection of talent. It also hinders the story from developing. The story that does exist centers around a group of hoods, headed by Carrillo, who take over a sound recording company, using strong-arm methods of coercing disagreeable performers. The film earned one Oscar nomination, for Best Interior Decoration. Songs include: "Mamma I Wanna Make Rhythm" (Jerome Jerome, Richard Bryon, Walter Kent), "Manhattan Merry-Go-Round" (Pinky Herman, Gustave Haenschen), "Heaven?" "I Owe You," "It's Round-up Time in Reno" (Gene Autry). leave a comment
