Early sound picture is without dialog, only using the sound to produce two vocal numbers sung by Carroll. Story opens with a symbolic prologue of the Greek myth in which Theseus slays the Minotaur, then flees with Ariadne from the Isle of Crete. The actual story opens with two guys and a
gal, recent college graduates, out to pursue their careers on Broadway. They meet up with a merciless producer, Lukas, who forces the kids to lose any desire to continue with the stage. Despite the unsympathetic role of the producer created by the writers, Lukas turns in a fine performance.
