At the close of WW I, Sgt. Jocko Wilson (Charles Laughton), a former prizefighter, leaves singer Aggie Dawlins (Binnie Barnes) at an English dock and returns to Australia with two Belgian orphans in tow, raising them as his own. The girl (played as an adult by Donna Reed) is sent to private school, while the boy (Richard Carlson) becomes the Australian lightweight boxing champion.
