Milland makes his directorial debut in this excellent western. He plays a gunfighter who hides out in the house of sheriff Bond when a lynch mob wants to hang him for two murders. The sheriff has yellow fever and his daughter, Murphy, helps Milland prove that banker Burr is the one behind
the murders and a stagecoach robbery. Bond has also been collaborating with Burr, but comes to Milland's defense in the end. After Burr and his gang are taken care of, Milland settles down in town with Murphy, because he figures the next town would be just as bad.
